We've added some helpful info to our Camp Life page to give prospective families a better idea of what to expect! Read on below, and check out the full page here! If your question isn't answered, please comment below or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Camp Culture: We pride ourselves on running a very inclusive and supportive camp. Our campers will range from children who have been off-treatment for many years to children who are still on active treatment. For this reason, we encourage our campers to be exceptionally welcoming, and have a very strict zero-tolerance policy on bullying. Camp is a safe environment where every child will always be made to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Accommodations: We will be camping at the YMCA Berkshire Outdoor Center in Becket, Massachusetts. Camp requires no outdoor skills whatsoever, as we will be sleeping in a large lodge with electricity, hot water, beds, and wheelchair-accessible bathroom facilities. Read more about our camp accommodations here.
Adaptations: We are prepared to welcome every eligible camper to Camp Casco! That means that any adaptations your child may require to enjoy a week of camp will be provided. We are already well-equipped with all-terrain wheelchairs for children with mobility limitations, and our Med Shed will be checking on campers regularly throughout the week to make sure everyone is staying hydrated, sunscreened, and well-rested. Medications that need to be regularly administered will also be handled by our medical professionals. Dietary requirements will easily be accommodated for by the YMCA Dining Hall - just make sure you note these requirements on your camper application! Please also highlight any other adaptations needed on your application. We will make this an incredible experience for every camper!
