Happy Voluntine's Month to our Special Events Committee! This outstanding group of volunteers really puts the FUN in the fundraising events we offer throughout the year. Their seamless teamwork is inspiring, uplifting, and sets the perfect tone for all of our events throughout the year.
Special Events Committee Director Lara "Aqua" Gechijian coordinates this team with the same kindness, care, and attention to detail she first brought to our team back in 2015. Lara has served as a camp counselor, and brings her deep understanding of camp and our mission to the Special Events team. Lara supports and energizes her team throughout the year to make each event the best it can possibly be.
Purva "Mowgli" Jain kicked off her time on the Special Events team by planning one of our first Boston fundraisers, a fantastic Paint Nite at UNO in spring 2016. Since then, she has assisted with numerous fundraising events, and is currently planning a fabulous fundraising night on the town for early summer -- stay tuned!!
Shikha "Caribou" Sheth has helped with numerous fundraising events, and assisted with collecting auction items for our 2016 gala. She is currently leading planning for our upcoming fundraiser, B. Good for Camp Casco, taking place in the Longwood Medical Area on Tuesday 2/21 from 5-7 PM! Stop by, say hi, and help us thank Shikha for all of her hard work!
While Summer Morrill has also contributed to several events, she is best known as the mastermind behind our most recent fundraising event, Plant Night at UNO, this past December. Beyond simply dreaming up the idea, she also designed and instructed the activity herself, adding a personal touch and allowing more of our ticket sales to go directly to camp.
Shae "Laces" Koharski has assisted with a number of events, including collecting several silent auction items for our 2016 gala. As this team's sole Western Massachusetts resident, she is currently taking the reins on a Garden Party fundraising night that will take place in the region and allow us to spread our reach! Further, the Garden Party will take place during our Valley Gives Fundraising Competition, when all funds raised will be matched 1:1 up to $10,000! Check back in coming weeks for updates on this lovely evening event.
Sarah "Hedgehog" Lenau served as one of our 2016 Gala Co-Chairs, and will be resuming her role for our 2017 event! Sarah L. worked extensively on collecting and organizing our silent auction, coordinating all of the delicious donated food, and managing general logistics around this huge event. Sarah L. has also volunteered at several family socials and recruitment events, and has so generously helped coordinate our May Family Social, Fun with Fisher Cats, which we are so excited for!
Dr. Sarah Cobourn is our other 2016 Gala Co-Chair, and much to our delight, will also be continuing her role in 2017! Sarah C. worked her magic on local party rental companies to provide all of the necessary equipment for our 2016 event, assisted with donation coordination, and organized much of our live auction. We are so happy to have her on board again this year for our next annual event!
Sheila Mahajan collected the fantastic raffle items from our 2016 Plant Night fundraiser, and now joins our Gala team this year as our Sponsorship Coordinator! We are thrilled to have her on our Gala subcommittee, as she takes on an area of event-planning we have not previously pursued. Sheila will be seeking event sponsors for our 2017 Campfires and Cocktails event, taking place on Thursday, November 9th in Boston!
