Hall Of Fame 2025: Caden’s Wildnerness Warriors

Amy Spirito shares why Caden’s Wilderness Warriors is proud to support Camp Casco.

How did you hear about Camp Casco and Trail Blazers?

I heard about Camp Casco last year just by doing my own research to find a safe and fun environment for my son to go to for Camp.  Immediately after talking to the staff over the phone, I knew this was the perfect fit. Once I started looking more at the website, I realized how important it was to get involved.  When I saw that you guys had a fundraising program to hike and raise money for the Camp. I knew I needed to get involved.

Where did you do your Trail Blazers hike, and who was on your team?

Caden’s Wilderness Warriors Team is made up of a few of us. Billy Barber is our hiker, and I’m our fundraiser.  Billy has hiked most of his life. I know last year’s hike was extremely difficult for him due to conditions, but he never stopped knowing that the camp and the kids needed him.

What does being a Trail Blazer mean to you? How do you think this program positively impacts our campers? 

This program is so wonderful. Mentally, emotionally, and physically.  If you were to sign on as a trailblazer, you would understand what I mean.  These kids need us and need this camp.  My son comes home a different person every year.  The growth I've witnessed in just one week at this camp is amazing.  Luckily, having The trailblazer hikes allows us to provide these kids with a safe environment.  The fundraising is so important so that this program can happen.  Even if you’re not a hiker, there are options and choices. You can make to still be part of this amazing event.  For our family it’s a tradition every year to get involved.  

What would you tell someone who is thinking about signing up for next year’s Trail Blazers? 

Even if you’re on the fence about getting involved, don’t be. Just do it !!!  Make it your own and make it happen.  These kids depend on us and need to be able to just be a kid for one week a year.  Camp Casco changed our lives, and we are forever grateful.   But the only way it will happen is by joining forces and helping.  Become a trailblazer and feel  the mental and emotionally reward of giving back to this amazing organization.
