Let’s Take A hike!

Come join us on a beautiful (and easy) nature walk around Rocky Woods Reservation in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day. Bring the whole family and enjoy a relaxing walk in the woods with us!

About The Hike

Rocky Woods Reservation (click for Google map) is a scenic and peaceful space filled with songbirds, bullfrogs, beavers, and painted turtles. Together, we’ll take on the Red Trail, an 0.8 mile trek with unpaved, but stroller-friendly, trails. We’ll circle Chickering Pond and end at the Pavilion. Click on the trail map for a closer look at our route.

 FAQs

  • Eligible pediatric cancer families and registered Trail Blazers are invited to join us at this event.

Eligible pediatric cancer families live in New England and have a childhood cancer patient, survivor, or sibling under 18. The whole family is invited to participate in this event, beginning at 10 AM. If you have never attended a Camp Casco program before, we ask for the contact information of a physician who can verify your family’s experience with childhood cancer. We must be able to verify your eligibility with this physician before your space is confirmed.

Registered Trail Blazers are individuals and teams who have signed up to hike in honor of Camp Casco in 2024. Trail Blazers are invited to join us beginning at 11:00 AM.

Spaces are limited, and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • The entire event will take place outside. Masks are welcomed, but not required.

By choosing to attend this event, you accept the inherent risk of gathering in public spaces where others may or may not be masked.

We ask that any participants recently exposed to COVID-19, or who have a fever or possible symptoms of COVID-19, refrain from attending this event. Thank you in advance for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy!

  • From 10-11 AM, coffee and pastries will be available for pediatric cancer families. This will provide a more intimate opportunity for families affected by cancer to connect before our Trail Blazers join us at 11 AM.

  • All participants are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle. You are welcome to bring any additional food or snacks you’d like to enjoy.

  • Every year, in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day, we offer a series of hike programs to help raise awareness and funds to support our camps. One of our hike programs is called Trail Blazers, which asks individuals and teams to sign up to hike anywhere they like. Some of our Trail Blazers have younger members who would prefer a family-friendly hike. Any interested Trail Blazers are welcome to join us on our family-friendly hike as space allows, beginning at 11 AM!
